Illumination is Pluto film

Illumination has bought the rights of Pluto. Not that dog, but an action-packed thriller in which an inspector behind a mysterious serial killer.


Pluto is the name of a 65-piece manga series of Naoki Urasawa. The futuristic strips take place in the future and are based on the work of Osamu Tezuka, whose Astro Boy is still just a little better known. The exciting story revolves around Gesicht, a robot that works for Europol. He is investigating a series of brutal murders of robots and humans. Everything suggests that the murders were committed by a robot.No such thing has been in eight years more happened because each machine complies with rule 13: no robot may hurt or kill a man.


Illumination Entertainment wants the successful manga to the white canvas. The makers of blockbuster Despicable me want of Pluto, however, make a movie in which live action and computer animation are interwoven.


CEO Chris Meledandri tells: "I hope that, with this good cooperation between Hollywood and Japan, a pioneering classic.Urasawa has with Pluto an imaginative world created full of action and adventure, size it's mainly the characters and the heartwarming story that attracted me to buy the rights to. "Makoto Tezuka(son of) as executive producer on the film adaptation.


A production-and release date are still unknown.
