Known characters in Frankenweenie or not?

Get to know Victor and Sparky, the two main characters in the monstrous animated film Frankenweenie. But they are not a little familiar?

In addition to a provisional logo can be found in this post pictures of the young Victor and his best friend Sparky. When the latter is run over, that first him back to life with electrical impulses.Frankenweenie was born.

The story is based on the short film of the same name Tim Burton from 1984.The new cinema film, however, is that a stop motion animation in 3D. Just like in Corpse Bride and fantastic Mr Fox this dolls are also the work of Mackinnon & Saunders, who, with their sophisticated skeletons to the absolute world top.

I don't know if it is a coincidence, but Victor from Frankenweenie looks a bit like a younger version of Victor Van Dort from Corpse Bride, the previous animated film by Burton. Victor besides a dead dog (Scraps, see image to the right in this post).A hidden reference or not?
