Fan of action, adventure, excitement and fantasy? Good news, because a few days after the premiere at the Dutch film festival, he is finally: Cinder, the new short film directed by the Amsterdam Blender Institute.
Exactly four months after the epic trailer for Cinder, state the full adventure online. Also behind the scenes it was quite an adventure, because an international team of no less than 14 3D animators and artists worked for a year to the short film.To do this, they made use of the latest version of the open-source Blender.
The Rotterdam cartoonist Martin Lodewijk (famous for storm and Agent 327) came up with the concept for the fanciful story, which was later developed by script writer Esther Wouda.
Cinder (a Dutch word for a piece of coal) revolves around the friendship between a heroic maid and a lonely Dragon.
Founder of the Blender Institute and producer Ton Roosendaal – as one of the few to all movies took part in the consultation – can breathe a sigh of relief. His last Blenderbaby is a handsome movie, it sets a new standard for the following productions again a lot higher.
In terms of both content and Visual Cinder is more than a worthy successor of elephant's Dream (2006) and Big Buck Bunny (2008).That was due to the much larger budget (EUR 400 000) that the creators could this year. More than a fourth of them came from the Dutch film fund, the rest was only through sponsors, companies and fans that the DVD with many extras were able to order in advance.
Cinder has only just from and yet already thought to be the next project: a special-effectsfilm that located in Amsterdam, in which computer animation is combined with life-like images. In addition, there is an idea for a long animated film.Enough to once again to look forward to.
More information (concept art, pieces of making-of) can be found on http://www.sintel.org/.The short film there you can also download in a variety of formats.
