Hurray, there is a future for pitch-black humor and ruthless serial killers! The promising puppet Happytime Murders has found a home Lionsgate at.
The film is set in a world where people and puppets live side by side, although the latter known as an inferior species. However, The whole population is shocked when the old dolls of the children's programme Happytime Gang a for a murdered. The only ones who are the serial killer can detect a drunken private detective (a pop) and his old police partner (a man).
The story, where since 2008 being worked on by the Jim Henson Company, was written by Todd Berger. None other than Brian Henson, life-like son of the legarische Muppets-father, the protagonists. He will work with his sister, Lisa Henson, produce the film. There is currently being searched for (known) actors who want to play in the film.Green light has the movie, unfortunately, not yet, but hopefully Lionsgate is willing to invest in this adult film. It sounds a lot more interesting than their typical family films such as Alpha and Omega.
For the sake of clarity, it is not the famous Muppets himself who play in the film (which would cause problems with the image of the characters), but they are similar dolls from the same company. Both the story as the choice for dolls and people are reminiscent of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the classic 1988 in which a detective decision to some cartoon characters to help, already promises Happytime Murders just a tad grimmer. Not that we mind …
